1. Who we are

Metriq Technologies Inc. ("Metriq", "we", "us") is a company incorporated in Alberta, Canada, operating the VoltPay electricity vending platform. Our registered email is moise@metriq.africa.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly: full name, phone number, email address, meter serial numbers, and payment method details. We also collect usage data including meter credit levels, recharge history, and app usage patterns.

We do not store full card numbers. Payment processing is handled by Flutterwave (PCI-DSS certified) and PawaPay (licensed mobile money operator). We receive only transaction confirmation references.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to: process electricity recharge transactions, deliver STS tokens to your meter, send low-credit alerts, provide customer support, improve the VoltPay platform, and comply with legal obligations in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, DRC, and Canada.

4. Who we share data with

We share necessary data with: Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and partner utilities for token generation, Flutterwave for card payment processing, PawaPay for mobile money processing, Africa's Talking for SMS delivery, and Firebase for push notifications. We do not sell your data to third parties.

5. Data retention

Transaction records are retained for 7 years for regulatory compliance. Account data is retained while your account is active and for 2 years after closure. You may request deletion of non-transactional data by emailing moise@metriq.africa.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact moise@metriq.africa. We will respond within 30 days.

Our website uses essential cookies for security and session management, and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our site. You may disable analytics cookies via your browser settings.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading VoltPay or using metriq.africa, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our services. These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada.

2. The VoltPay service

VoltPay is a platform that enables customers to purchase STS electricity tokens and have them delivered to compatible prepayment meters. VoltPay is not an electricity utility. Electricity supply remains the responsibility of the relevant utility company (REG, UMEME, KPLC, TANESCO, SNEL).

3. Payments and refunds

All payments are processed in real time. Once an STS token has been generated and delivered, transactions are generally non-reversible as the token constitutes purchased electricity credit. If a token was generated but not received, contact moise@metriq.africa within 48 hours and we will re-deliver or refund at our discretion.

4. Meter registration

You may only register meters for which you are the authorised account holder or have explicit permission from the account holder. Registering a meter fraudulently is a violation of these terms and may be reported to the relevant utility and authorities.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use VoltPay to circumvent metering infrastructure, attempt to generate fraudulent STS tokens, resell electricity credits commercially without authorisation, or reverse engineer the VoltPay platform.

6. Limitation of liability

Metriq Technologies is not liable for electricity supply interruptions caused by the utility company, meter hardware failures, or force majeure events. Our liability is limited to the value of the failed transaction.

7. Changes to terms

We may update these terms. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of VoltPay constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
